2. POLICY CHANGES
We may occasionally update this Policy and the updated Policy will be posted at www.pantrly.com/privacy. If we make any significant changes, we will endeavour to notify you, such as via a prominent notice on the Platform or to your email address on record, and where required by applicable law, we will obtain your consent. To the extent permitted under applicable law, your continued use of the Services following any changes to this Policy will constitute your acceptance of those changes.
3. IMPORTANT NOTICE - BETA PROGRAM
Pantrly is currently made available as a Beta product. This means the Platform and Services are in an active phase of development, testing, and improvement. Features described in our marketing materials or within the Platform or the website may be incomplete, partially implemented, temporarily unavailable, or functioning differently than described. We make no representations as to the completeness, reliability, or fitness of the Services during the Beta period.
During the Beta period, we actively collect and use information about how you interact with the Platform to understand usage patterns, identify issues, improve features, train and refine the underlying models and algorithms that power the Services, and develop a better product experience for all users. By participating in the Beta, you acknowledge and agree that your usage data, interaction data, and other information described in this Policy may be used for these improvement and development purposes.
All personal data collected during the Beta period will be temporarily archived when the Platform transitions to its public launch. We will endeavour to provide at least 14 days' advance notice before this occurs. You should not rely on the Beta Platform as a permanent service.
4. ELIGIBLE USERS
By using the Services, you represent and warrant that you are at least 18 years of age. The Platform is not directed at or intended for use by individuals under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect personal data from users under 18. If we become aware that a user under 18 has created an account, we will delete that account and all associated data without notice. If you believe a person under 18 has accessed our Platform, please notify us at [email protected].
5. LINKS TO OTHER WEBSITES
The Platform may contain links to third-party websites, integrations, or features. Your use of such websites or features may result in the collection, processing, or sharing of information about you depending on the feature. Any personal information collected while visiting such websites or using such features is not governed by this Policy unless specifically stated otherwise. We are not responsible for and have no control over the practices or content of any website accessed through links on the Platform. We strongly encourage you to read the privacy policies of any third parties whose services you access.
6. INFORMATION WE COLLECT FROM YOU
We collect information from and about users of the Platform in several ways.
6.1 Account and Identity Information
When you register for an account, we collect your full name, email address, and encrypted password. If you sign up or sign in using a third-party authentication service such as Google Sign-In, we collect and store whatever information is made available to us through that service based on the permissions you grant during the sign-in process, which may include your name, email address, profile picture, and a unique identifier associated with your account on that service. We do not receive your password for any third-party service.
6.2 Photograph and Image Information
A core feature of the Platform is the ability to photograph or upload images of your fridge and pantry contents. When you use this feature, we collect and store the photographs you take or upload. These images may contain embedded technical metadata within the image file itself, including information such as the device used, timestamp, and potentially location-related data embedded by your camera app. This metadata is stored as part of the image file on our servers. We do not use such embedded metadata for any purpose other than as part of the stored image, and we are in the process of implementing a technical process to strip this metadata from images before storage. By using the photo feature, you consent to this practice as described. We also collect the data derived from processing these images through our AI systems, including identified food items, estimated quantities, and product information.
6.3 Pantry and Inventory Information
We collect the food items you add to your pantry, whether through scanning or manual entry, along with expiry dates, inventory history, and records of items you have marked as consumed, purchased, or discarded.
6.4 Preferences and Dietary Information
We collect information about your dietary preferences and restrictions, including but not limited to preferences such as vegetarian, vegan, Jain, halal, gluten-free, low-carb, diabetic-friendly, high-protein, and allergen information. We also collect your cuisine preferences, recipe selections, and cooking history. Some dietary information, particularly that relating to medical conditions or health, may constitute health-adjacent personal data. By providing this information, you expressly consent to its collection and processing for the purposes set out in this Policy.
6.5 Your Content
Information you provide through your use of the Services, including recipe ratings and reviews, modifications and edits you make to recipes, personal cooking notes and annotations, and feedback or suggestions you submit through the Platform.
6.6 Usage and Activity Information
Details of your use of the Services including the screens and features you access, the actions you take within the Platform, how long you use the Services, which features you interact with, the recipes you view, start, complete, or save, and other usage patterns and interaction data. This information is actively used during the Beta period to understand how users engage with the product and to improve the Services.
6.7 Device and Technical Information
Information about the device you use to access the Platform including device type and model, operating system and version, unique device identifiers, app version, crash reports, error logs, and network connection information. Analytics providers may use device identifiers to track your usage of the Platform.
6.8 Approximate Location Information
We do not request or collect GPS or precise location data from your device and we do not ask for location permissions. However, we and our service providers may infer your approximate geographic location at country or region level from your IP address in order to deliver localised content, regional features, and appropriate service experiences.
6.9 Push Notification Tokens
If you grant notification permissions on your device, we collect and store the device token used to send push notifications to you.
6.10 Referral Information
If you use the referral feature to invite others by providing their email address, we collect that email address for the sole purpose of sending a single invitation on your behalf. This address is not retained or used for any other purpose following the delivery of that invitation, unless the recipient independently creates an account and provides their own consent.
6.11 Payment and Transaction Information
If you make a purchase through our Platform, we receive and store payment confirmation and transaction information from our payment processing providers. We do not store full payment card details. Transaction records are retained as required by applicable Indian financial record-keeping law.
6.12 Support and Communication Information
When you contact us through the Website contact form or other channels, we collect the information you provide including your name, email address, and the content of your message.
6.13 Barcode Information
When you scan product barcodes on the Platform, the barcode identifier is sent to third-party product database services to retrieve product information. Barcode identifiers are not retained beyond the duration of the lookup.
7. HOW WE USE YOUR INFORMATION
We use the information we collect for the following purposes, including:

We may combine the information we receive from third parties with the information you give us and information we collect about you for the purposes set out above.
We may also anonymise and de-identify information collected from you through the Services or via other means. Our use and disclosure of aggregated and anonymised information is not restricted by this Policy, and it may be used and disclosed to others without limitation. This includes using such data to improve our products, conduct research, generate insights, and share findings with partners, investors, and the public.

We may share your information with third parties in any other circumstances where we have notified you and you consent to the sharing.
9. ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE AND THIRD-PARTY PROCESSING
Certain features of the Platform, including fridge and pantry photo recognition, inventory identification, and recipe generation, are powered by third-party artificial intelligence and machine learning service providers. When you use these features, your photographs and associated data are transmitted to and processed by these providers. The identity of our AI service providers may change over time as we adopt new technologies and evaluate new solutions. We do not name specific providers in this Policy as these are subject to change.
We require all AI service providers to process your data only for the purposes we instruct, to maintain appropriate security standards, and to comply with applicable data protection law. 11. MARKETING AND ADVERTISING PRACTICES
We use the information we collect to deliver, measure, and improve our marketing activities across multiple channels and platforms. This section describes our current and reserved marketing practices in full so that you understand how your information may be used for marketing purposes.
11.1 Retargeting
We use tracking technologies including pixels and software development kits deployed on our Website and within our App to serve targeted advertisements to you on third-party platforms including Meta platforms such as Facebook and Instagram, Google, and other advertising networks. This includes retargeting users who have visited our Website or used our App but have not yet created an account, and retargeting existing users with re-engagement, upgrade, or promotional campaigns. When you use our Platform, information about your behaviour may be shared with these advertising platforms to enable us to show you relevant advertisements when you use other websites, applications, or services.
11.2 Behavioural Advertising.
We may use data about how you interact with the Platform, including the features you use, the content you engage with, your usage patterns, and your in-app behaviour, to personalise the advertisements we show you on third-party platforms such as Meta and Google. This means that your in-app activity on Pantrly may influence the advertisements you see outside of our Platform on third-party services.
11.3 Lookalike Audiences.
We may upload hashed and encrypted versions of user email addresses to advertising platforms including Meta and Google for the purpose of building lookalike audiences. A lookalike audience is a group of people on an advertising platform who share similar characteristics to our existing users, allowing us to reach new potential users who may be interested in our Services. When we upload hashed email lists, the data is processed in an encrypted format and we do not share your raw email address directly with these platforms. Your use of the Services constitutes your consent to this practice as described.
11.4 Email Marketing Automation
We send both broadcast marketing communications and automated email sequences triggered by your behaviour on the Platform. Automated emails may be triggered by events including but not limited to account creation, inactivity, feature usage or non-usage, subscription status changes, expiry alerts, and other interactions with the Services. All marketing emails include an unsubscribe mechanism. You may opt out of marketing communications at any time as described in the OPT-OUT AND WITHDRAWAL OF CONSENT section of this Policy.
11.5 Future Marketing Tools and Partners
We use and may in future use a range of marketing, analytics, advertising, and measurement tools and partners. Our use of category language throughout this Policy to describe service providers is intentional and reflects the fact that the specific tools we use may change over time. We may add, replace, or remove marketing tools and advertising partners at any time. All such providers are contractually required to handle your data in accordance with applicable law and our instructions. We do not name individual tools in this Policy as these are subject to change, and all current tools are covered by the category disclosures in this Policy.
11.6 Cross-Platform Identity Matching
We reserve the right to connect information about you collected across different devices, channels, and platforms into a unified profile for marketing purposes. This may include linking your Website visits, App usage, email engagement, and advertising interactions into a single record used to understand your journey and to target you more effectively across channels. We will implement this capability in accordance with applicable data protection law and will update this Policy if and when this practice is adopted.
11.7 Data Enrichment
We reserve the right to combine information we collect about you through the Services with data obtained from third-party sources, including demographic data, interest data, or behavioural data from third-party data providers, for the purpose of building richer user profiles for marketing and advertising targeting purposes. We will implement this capability in accordance with applicable data protection law and will update this Policy if and when this practice is adopted.
11.8 Brand Partnerships and Sponsored Content
We reserve the right to enter into partnerships with third-party brands, retailers, food producers, and other businesses and to feature sponsored content, promotions, or branded experiences within the Platform. If and when such partnerships are introduced, any sharing of your data with brand partners will be described in an updated version of this Policy. Your continued use of the Services at the time any such partnership is introduced constitutes your acceptance of the updated arrangements.
11.9 Your Choices.
You can manage your exposure to targeted advertising through the opt-out mechanisms described in our Cookie and Tracking Policy. You may also manage your Meta advertising preferences at facebook.com/settings/ads and your Google advertising preferences at adssettings.google.com. Opting out of personalised advertising does not stop you from seeing advertisements altogether, it means those advertisements will be less relevant to your interests.
12. COMPATIBLE USE AND FUTURE PURPOSES
We may use your personal data for any purpose that is compatible with or reasonably related to the purposes described in this Policy. This includes using your data in connection with operating, maintaining, improving, and growing our business and Services in ways that are consistent with the reasonable expectations of users who have provided their data for the purposes described herein.
We may also use your data for new purposes that arise from time to time as our business and the Services evolve. Where any such new use is materially different from the purposes described in this Policy at the time of collection, we will provide notice of the new use by updating this Policy and notifying you as described in the POLICY CHANGES section, and where required by applicable law, we will obtain your consent before proceeding with any such materially different use.
This section reflects the reality that Pantrly is a growing product and that the full scope of how user data may be used in the future cannot be entirely anticipated at the time this Policy was written. 15. DATA RETENTION
We retain your personal information for as long as is necessary for the purposes described in this Policy, for as long as your account is active, or as required to comply with our legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements. Payment and transaction records are retained for a minimum period as required under applicable Indian financial record-keeping law.
Upon account deletion, your personal data is deactivated immediately and permanently deleted within 30 days. Certain anonymised or aggregated data derived from your usage may be retained beyond this period in a form that cannot be used to identify you.
All personal data collected during the Beta period, including your account, pantry data, photographs, preferences, sub-profiles, and all associated content, will be archived and irreversibly deleted at a later stage. We will endeavour to provide at least 14 days' advance notice before this occurs.
